Like many, my indoctrination into the field of mind/body healing and spirituality came as a response to personal turmoil and the inadequacies of modern medicine.
My body was ‘acting up’. I had developed a number of debilitating twitches for many years; some were subtle, others made it difficult for me to be in social settings. Then there were others that impacted on my personal health in so many negative ways I couldn’t count. My jaw constantly ached, I had stomach ulcers, and my teeth had largely deteriorated from excessive grinding.
I had sought medical assistance for well over 2 decades in order to establish the cause of what made me ‘different’. Some doctors were quicker to draw Zoloft and Prozac than Clint Eastwood in a Spaghetti Western. Even at that age, there was something within me that stopped me from taking these drugs. I now know it was an inherent understanding that the body is a fascinating and intelligent phenomena. We are only starting to understand the capabilities of its’ capabilities.
As I became more fascinated by the mind-body relationship, I looked deeper into age-old spiritual practices with a particular interest in Tibetan Buddhism. At one point I decided to take a break from my ‘life’ for an indefinite period of time and explored the world.
India was a clear first stop for me. It was here that I completed a 10 day silent meditation retreat. I noticed something by about day 3 or 4, my ticks had gone. It had taken me 27 years of my life to consolidate my destructive habits and only 3 days to dismantle them. This was further validation that I was on the right track.
From then on, I became fascinated with meditation, mind body techniques, energy healing, natural medicine and anything that challenged the status quo of what we, as a society, knew about wellness.
So here I am, continuing my personal journey and, at the same time, creating a podcast that I have been looking for myself . One which inspires others to ask questions, examine life and look within.
I hope you enjoy.
